The International Assembly of Capital and Major Cities of the CIS (IAC) was established in 1998 to unite the executive powers of the CIS capitals and major cities and supervise their cooperative actions in the area of social and economic development.

The major spheres of the IAC activities are assisting in the development of trade and commerce, academic studies, research and culture in cities, regions and countries, as well as in their cooperation in the sphere; organizing the information and experience exchange between them in all areas; organizing and holding conferences, seminars, symposiums, round tables, exhibitions, and various business meetings.
